Aeroitalia Boosts Winter Flights from Trieste: More Connections with Salerno and Sardinia

From the North-East to the heart of the Mediterranean—how air links from the Trieste airport are growing.

In the City of the Bora wind, Aeroitalia is strengthening connections from Trieste airport for the 2026/2027 winter season, doing so by increasing the frequency of flights to Salerno and introducing special flights to both Olbia and Alghero, right over the Christmas holidays. The link to Milan Linate has also been confirmed, under a “territorial continuity scheme,” as reported in a press release issued by Trieste airport.

The main boost concerns the Trieste–Salerno route, which now goes from two to three weekly frequencies, with departures on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. In November and over the Christmas period, the connections will rise to four, thanks to the addition of a Saturday flight. This strengthening takes on particular significance in view of the closure of Naples airport in November (for runway refurbishment works), offering a direct alternative for mobility between the North-East and Campania.

For the Christmas period, Aeroitalia has also scheduled special connections with Sardinia. Flights to Olbia will depart from Trieste on 24 and 30 December and on 2 and 6 January, while those to Alghero take off on 23, 26, and 29 December and on 4 January.

Meanwhile, the Trieste–Milan Linate route, already active since last July, is consolidating. The connection, which also allows same-day round trips, is aimed both at business clients and at passengers travelling for tourism or personal reasons.

“The increase in frequencies to Salerno and the special scheduling of connections to Alghero and Olbia further broaden the travel opportunities for our passengers,” said Fabio Gallo, CEO of Trieste Airport.

For Gaetano Intrieri, CEO of Aeroitalia, the strengthening of the offering responds to the area’s mobility demand and confirms the Trieste airport’s strategic role in the company’s network. “We will continue to work, in collaboration with Trieste Airport, to develop an ever more widespread offering in line with travellers’ needs,” said Intrieri.

Founded in 2022, Aeroitalia reports a significant “milestone” of three million tickets sold as of 2025. The company operates across 26 airports, 22 of them Italian, with 43 routes between Italy and Europe.
